The glibc package contains standard libraries which are used by multiple programs on the system. In order to save disk space and memory, as well as to make upgrading easier, common system code is kept in one place and shared between programs. This particular package contains the most important sets of shared libraries: the standard C library and the standard math library. Without these two libraries, a Linux system will not function.

Security Fix(es):

The regcomp function in the GNU C library version from 2.4 to 2.41 is subject to a double free if some previous allocation fails. It can be accomplished either by a malloc failure or by using an interposed malloc that injects random malloc failures. The double free can allow buffer manipulation depending of how the regex is constructed. This issue affects all architectures and ABIs supported by the GNU C library.(CVE-2025-8058)
